For the sixth edition of Baker’s DozenTorrance Art Museum gathered 13 artists whose work has made an impression upon the museum over the last year. These thirteen artists represent current directions in Southern Californian contemporary art practices. 

This year, Baker's Dozen VI features Carlos Beltran Arechiga, David Eddington, Kim Garcia, Michelle Carla Handel, Julie Henson, Lisa Hoffner, Bessie Kunath, Molly Larkey, Lauren Marsolier, Danny McCaw, Kottie Paloma, Jesse Standlea and Panos Tsagaris.

Some of the most interesting works include the carpeted beasts of Jared Pankin and the sculptural fusion of Buddha, Superman and the Statue of Liberty done by Aragna Ker, constructed mostly of toothpicks. 

French artist Lauren Marsolier draws special attention for her participation in the exhibition. Marsolier’s images undergo several stages before taking a definitive form. The artist compiles photographs from multiple locations, each developed slowly, allowing Marsolier to represent the world by means of mental experience rather than concrete moment. Currently living in Los Angeles, Marsolier delicately combines multiple perspectives, lighting sources,and even distances in order to produce disorientation for the viewer, questionning our relationship with art.
