From March 2–April 15, 2017, Blum & Poe presents an exhibition of video installation, photography, and sculpture by film luminary Agnès Varda. The exhibition is organized with Olivier Renaud-Clément.

Hailed as the mother of the French New Wave with a career spanning over six decades, Varda shifted the focus of her practice in 2003 and in her own words, transformed from an “old filmmaker to a young visual artist.” The exhibition, Varda’s first in New York City, highlights works made from 1949 to the present, a rare amalgam of various epochs of the prolific artist's lifetime.

On the occasion of the exhibition, Blum & Poe will partner with the French Institute Alliance Française and Rendez-Vouz with French Cinema of the Film Society, Lincoln Center to present a series of Varda's cinematic works and lectures. On Tuesday, February 28, 7:30pm, hosted at the French Institute Alliance Française, Varda will discuss her practice as a visual artist and the work on view at Blum & Poe. This talk will be moderated by Olivier Renaud-Clément.
