The Cultural Services of the French Embassy is interested in new and challenging ideas that will bring French and American people together in creative collaboration. Programs are offered either directly by our Departments or in conjunction with the Embassy’s non-profit partner FACE (French American Cultural Exchange). 

French-US Exchange in Dance

The French-US Exchange in Dance program, known as FUSED, melds the French and American dance communities by fostering dialogue and exchange, consolidating professional relationships and spawning choreographic innovation. This multi-year program introduces choreographers and performers whose works have rarely, if ever been seen in the partner country.

French Authors on Tour

The Book Department of the French Embassy in New York offers financial aid to American institutions wishing to host French authors for readings, signings, and symposia. We collaborate with universities, libraries, bookstores, publishing houses, and other venues across the United States to organize events with visiting authors.

Films on the Green Festival

Films on the Green is an free outdoor French film festival in New York City parks organized annually by the French Embassy, FACE Foundation and NYC Parks.

OPENING UP French Society

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy, and l’ACID, an association of filmmakers who support the distribution of independent films, in association with the Institut Français are thrilled to offer OPENING UP French Society, a list of French films, for American Universities.

Mediamerica

Created in 2004, Mediamerica.org is administered by the Film, Television and New Media Department of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States. The website is a resource for French professionals in the industry.

French-American Fund for Contemporary Theater

The French-American Fund for Contemporary Theater, a French-American grant program, is dedicated to fostering innovative artistic collaborations in the field of theater and to contributing to the dynamism of intercultural dialogue and exchange between France and the U.S.

Etant Donnés: French-American Fund for Contemporary Art

Etant donnés is dedicated to nurturing and supporting outstanding programming of contemporary artists from France and the U.S. Applications are now open for artistic projects or research beginning October, 2016.

French-American Jazz Exchange

French-American Jazz Exchange (FAJE) supports projects designed collaboratively by French and American professional jazz artists that encourage artistic exploration, foster intercultural dialogue, and contribute to the dynamism of the art form.

French-American Fund for Contemporary Music

The French-American Fund for Contemporary Music supports contemporary music projects – commissions, residencies, performances, tours, and master classes – that foster cultural exchange between France and the United States.

"Meet": a Writer and Translator Residency in Saint-Nazaire

For almost thirty years, the "Meet" — Maison des Écrivains Étrangers et des Traducteurs (the Foreign Writers and Translators House) — has welcomed writers and translators from all over the world. The resident is allocated a weekly grant and accommodated in an emblematic high-rise overlooking the docks and the shipyards of Saint Nazaire Harbour, on the Loire River estuary. The deadline for application is the end of February for a residency the following year.
