Razmig Keucheyan will be at The New School to takl about 'Nature and the Dynamics of Contemporary Capitalism'.

In the past decades, new financial instruments have increasingly connected nature to financial markets. Carbon markets are the best-known of these instruments, but there a many others: weather derivatives, biodiversity swaps, catastrophe bonds, etc. In this talk, Keucheyan will describe this "financialization" of nature, and try to make sense of its political implications. 

Razmig Keucheyan is an assistant professor in sociology at the University of Paris-Sorbonne. He is the author of Le constructivisme. Des origines à nos jours, The Left Hemisphere: Mapping Critical Theory Today (Verso, 2014) and has recently edited a selection from Antonio Gramsci’s Prison Notebooks in French.
